South Africa has two Kingdoms within its borders Lesotho and Swaziland

SEASONS

The following are just a rough guide to help you pack the right clothing

September through to late March, rain could be expected
Winter cold could be felt from March to late August
Min of up to - 20 degrees Celsius/ - 4 Fahrenheit could occur ( Drakensberg when is snowed)
Max of up to 45 degrees Celsius/ 113 Fahrenheit could occur (hottest time of the year)
Humidity only in a few towns and places in SA.

But the normal every day is Min 2 degrees Celsius / 35 Fahrenheit
Max 30 degrees Celsius / 86 Fahrenheit

Small Hints:

Covering the skin is sometimes better than exposing skin, even in the Deserts
It is nicer to enjoy the trip then to have red painful skin or even blisters from the sun.
Wearing long pants in the Desert could also protect the legs from sandstorm that could whip up in seconds.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Kruger National Park is South Africa's biggest national park and covers an area of 19 000 km square/ 7336 square miles
The Length of Kruger is 350 km / 217 miles from north to south and at it widest up to 90 km/ 56 miles
All of the Big Five are found in Kruger National Park
Aside from the Big Five is there 147 other mammals to be seen.
Bird species;as many as 507 different birds
Reptiles 114 different species of which 58 are lizard species, 50 are snakes and 5 tortoises and terrapins species
There are camps situated in the entire length of the park. Punda Maria is the most Northern then Shingwedzi, Lataba, Mopanie, Olifants, Satara, Skukuza, Pretoriuskop, Lower Sabie and Berg en Dal

ADDO ELEPHANT PARK

Addo Elephant national park is an ever growing park gaining in size every year the end result could be 3700 square km / 1428 square miles making it the third largest park in South Africa.
Addo was started in 1931 to save a sub specie Elephant, being different in size.
The game reserve has all of the Big Five and diriment from Kruger has game species not found in the Kruger National Park.
Antelope such as the Blesbuck, Red hartebeest, Springbuck are among those that can not be seen in Kruger National Park.

HLUHLUWE/UMFOLOZI

Famous for being the park that played the biggest role in saving our Black and White Rhino Specie from extinction!
Today they are boasting with more than 6000 White Rhino.
All of the Big Five are found here. This park is unique in that it is situated in both high mountains and lowlands.
Rare specie such as the Wild Dogs and Cheetah can also be seen there
The Park covers an area of 960 square km / 370 square miles.

ST.LUCIA ESTUARY

Where fresh water flows into the sea and forms a very rich estuary, home to spectacular bird life!
Red duikers are often seen on the roads early in the morning and late afternoon.
Being close to the sea the scenery is breath taking and different in all its ways.

GEMSBUCK NATIONAL PARK

Forming a Transfrontier National Park with Botswana and South Africa it is in the heart of the Kalahari Desert.
Gemsbuck NP is 9500 square km/ 3667 square miles big,just on the South African side alone. The total area of the park it is 28 400 km square/ 10 965 square miles making bigger than Kruger National Park
About 58 species of mammals and 55 species of reptiles making it unique due to the fact that some of theses species can not be seen in Kruger National Park.
Lion and Leopard can be seen in daylight hours. The Lions are bigger than those found in Kruger national Park, which is a must to see!
Having a completely different type of soil and plant life, means the wildlife is also very different.
The rich bird life of 260 species, include 40 Raptors.
Being semi desert the sun sets and sun rises are indescribably beautiful! The sun's rays reflect off of fine dust particles in the air, creating those magnificent colours you have always wondered about in some photographs.

AUGRABIES FALLS

Augrabies falls is situated in the 490 square km/189 square mile reserve and is one of the largest cararact water falls in the world .
The water falling into the abyss of the 18km long Orange River Gorge, causes the river to drop a 191 meter/ 626
Augrabies means " the water that thunders" .
Myth has it that there is a large quantity of diamonds at the bottom of the falls, getting to the bottom however, is not possible.
